Finissage & Performative Workshop
by YOERI GUÉPIN

The exhibition space will be activated through a series of performative workshops. Guépin will use cosmological rituals passed on from his grandmother and father who both spend their life practicing and teaching biodynamic agriculture. In the workshop the artist uses these methods to question current ecological and epistemological paradigms. Visitors are invited to join the workshops in which different preparations will be made according to a notebook his grandmother kept during the foundational year of the school for biodynamic agriculture in 1948.

YOERI GUÉPIN (he/him) is a visual artist, researcher, and passionate gardener. His projects are long term and collaboratively oriented, involving experimental forms of care, working with embodied knowledge, storytelling, and ecosystems at the margins. His experience of being brought up at a biodynamic farm, helping his parents in the fields from a young age led to an interest in (agri)cultural histories. Guépin holds an MA from the Dutch Art Institute. His work is nominated for the Dolf Henkens Prize (2023) and has recently been exhibited at TENT Rotterdam (2023), the Sharjah Biennale (2023), and Kadist San Francisco (2022). In 2022, he was a fellow at Stiftung Künstlerdorf Schöppingen. He is a resident at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht for 2023-2024
