A Tale of A Tub and TENT Rotterdam organize a weekend in which artist Yoeri Guépin invites you on a journey to the rituals of his childhood on a biodynamic farm with workshops and a field trip urban ecology.

On Saturday, October 21, Yoeri Guépin will give a performative workshop at A Tale of A Tub, where his solo exhibition The Smallest Gesture is on view. The workshop will activate the exhibition space by making preparations following the instructions of his grandmother and father, both of whom spent their entire lives practicing and teaching biodynamic agriculture. Preparations were developed as a ‘natural’ alternative to the introduction of fertilisers and chemical pesticides in agriculture and are made by farmers around the world.
Visitors are invited to participate in workshops in which various preparations are made using a notebook kept by his grandmother during the foundational year of the school of biodynamic agriculture in 1948.

This program is a collaboration between TENT Rotterdam and A Tale of A Tub. Visit Yoeri Guépin’s solo exhibition The Smallest Gesture at A Tale of A Tub through November 5, 2023 and his installation in the group exhibition of the Dolf Henkes Prize 2023 at TENT through January 7, 2024.

YOERI GUÉPIN (he/him) is a visual artist, researcher, and gardener. His projects are long-term and collaboratively oriented, involving experimental forms of care, working with embodied knowledge, storytelling, and ecosystems at the margins. His experience of being brought up at a biodynamic farm, helping his parents in the fields from a young age led to an interest in (agri)cultural histories. Guépin holds an MA from the Dutch Art Institute. His work is nominated for the Dolf Henkes Prize (2023) and has recently been exhibited at TENT Rotterdam (2023), the Sharjah Biennale (2023), and Kadist San Francisco (2022). In 2022, he was a fellow at Stiftung Künstlerdorf Schöppingen. He is a resident at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht for 2023-2024.
